Assistance with Grief

Assistance with Grief at Swedish

Swedish Medical Center offers two free community resources to support you and your family throughout the grief process. Our Perinatal Loss Support Group assists those dealing with pregnancy losses, such as miscarriage, stillbirth or death of an infant or child. Also, we offer A New Beginning pregnancy support group for those who become pregnant after experiencing a loss.

Both programs are facilitated by professional counselors and offer couples and individuals the opportunity to share thoughts and feelings with others who have experienced similar losses. Also, Swedish offers FREE telephone consultations, if you just need someone to talk to. Call (303) 788-LOSS (5677) and a counselor will call you back.

Perinatal Loss Support Group

This is a five-week, closed-group session that provides support to families after a loss occurring anytime during pregnancy through early childhood. The grieving process will be discussed and explored as it relates to individuals and gender differences.

The Perinatal Loss Support Group typically meets Thursdays from 7:00pm - 9:00pm at Swedish Medical Center. Registration is required, as classes are formed based on community need.

In addition, we provide:

  • Bi-annual newsletter written for parents who have experienced a loss.
  • An annual Memorial Service to honor the baby/child you lost.

To register for this support group or request more information, please call (303) 788-LOSS (5677) or by email. A facilitator will promptly respond after receiving your message.

A New Beginning Support Group

This group is designed for parents who have previously experienced a loss and are in need of some extra support. A free five-week support group provides a safe environment to share thoughts and feelings. Groups are held Tuesday evenings. Participants must sign up 48 hours in advance of the class date, and a minimum of four participants is necessary to proceed with the group.
