Free Informational Classes about Weight-Loss Surgery
Swedish Medical Center offers free seminars to men and women to provide more indepth information regarding bariatric/weight-loss surgery.
During the lecture, you will learn more about:
- How a patient qualifies for bariatric surgery and if you are an appropriate candidate for a bariatric procedure
- What to expect during surgery, as an inpatient and after discharge from the hospital
- Lifelong lifestyle changes you can expect after bariatric surgery
- Options for surgery including Roux-en-Y gastric bypass or the Lap-Band procedure
- The qualifications of the experienced bariatric surgeons who practice at Swedish Medical Center, Dr. Rick Tillquist and Dr. Reginald Bell.
- Insurance coverage issues will also be discussed during the lecture. Many insurance companies cover bariatric procedures; however, some do not. Payment plan options are available at Swedish Medical Center if you qualify for surgery but your insurance company does not cover the procedure.
For patients having surgery at Swedish Medical Center, there are two additional resources offered. The first is a required bariatrics pre-op classes for patients having gastric bypass that will provide detailed information about diet and nutrition. Additionally, free support groups are also provided!
Bariatric Surgery Information Class Schedule
Classes are offered starting at 6 p.m., usually on Tuesdays, at Swedish Medical Center in the second floor conference center, 501 E. Hampden Ave., Englewood (in the main hospital building). Classes are located in rooms Spruce C and typically conclude at 7 p.m., depending on the number of audience questions. Free parking is available in the south parking garage. Get Directions>>
