Radiation Oncology

Sarah Cannon at SMC

Radiation Oncology at Swedish Medical Center

Radiation therapy is minimally invasive treatment for cancer. Advances in radiation therapy allow us to localize and pinpoint tumors, delivering treatment at the site of the cancer and sparing healthy tissue around it.

At the Swedish Cancer Care Center, our radiation oncology team works as a part of the multidisciplinary cancer committee to create the best, most effective treatment plans for our patients. Using careful imaging planning, an individualized treatment plan is developed for each patient.

Reasons for radiation therapy include:

  • Managing the spread or growth of cancer
  • Curing cancer by eliminating the spread or growth
  • Reducing or eliminating pain

The Swedish Cancer Care Center Radiation Oncology Program specializes in treatments for cancers of the brain, skin, breast, head/neck, lung, gynecologic/female reproductive system, GI/digestive system, liver, pancreas and prostate.
