The program has an incredible atmosphere for learning and the faculty and residents do an amazing job working together! I enjoy learning from the residents as much as I enjoy teaching them!

Gordon Ehlers, MD

Education:
University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE – BA in English
University of Nebraska College of Medicine, Omaha, NE – MD
United States Air Force, Flight Surgeon
Specialty/Research Interests: Sports Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Men’s Health, Geriatrics, Fitness and Prevention
Tidbit about yourself: I have spent many happy days (adding up to months and years) enjoying the beautiful Colorado mountains: skiing, hiking and climbing, camping, rafting, and 4 wheeling. I am an avid sports fan, bleeding Cornhusker Scarlet, and have spent more $ than I care to tabulate on season tickets to the Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets and Avalanche.  Less shallow interests include military history, music, and travel.
Short message to applicants: As the economist Herbert Stein once famously said, “if something cannot go on forever, it will stop”. This aphorism certainly applies to the rising costs and personnel shortages in modern medicine. Family Medicine, because of its cost effectiveness and versatility, is central to the “remodeled” American Health Care System. Those of us who find intellectual stimulation in the variety offered by Family Medicine have an exciting and potentially rewarding challenge in the near future. This is a great time to be a family doctor.
