Amy Shields, RPh, BCCCP
Amy Shields, RPh, BCCCP, is the Operations Manager for Critical Care & Perioperative Pharmacy Services at Swedish Medical Center. After receiving a B.S. Pharmacy from the University of Colorado in 1996, she completed a one-year fellowship at the Infectious Disease Pharmacokinetic Laboratory of National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado. This experience provided intensive experience in laboratory research methods and population pharmacokinetic modeling, with a focus on antimycobacterial therapies. Upon completion of her fellowship, Amy moved on to institutional practice at The Medical Center of Aurora's North and South Campuses and then at Parker Adventist Hospital. Her years of clinical experience in the hospital setting have given her a broad background in internal and emergency medicine, critical care, infectious disease, and management of traumatically-injured and brain-injured patients. She also has extensive experience with the use and implementation of automated systems for pharmacy information management and drug distribution. Since joining Swedish Medical Center in 2006 as a clinical pharmacist, she has progressed into a leadership role; her pharmacy satellite currently serves 54 Critical Care beds, an 8-bed Burn unit, Perioperative Services for 25 operating room suites, a 5-suite Interventional Radiology department, and a 2-suite Cardiac Intervention Laboratory. Despite a demanding operations role, Amy still enjoys clinical practice, as well as teaching and mentoring pharmacy students and new graduates as they transition into clinical practice. Amy is Board Certified in Critical Care, an Advanced Burn Life Support provider, and recently celebrated her 25th anniversary as an employee of HCA Healthcare. She has lived in Colorado for nearly 40 years and enjoys this beautiful state with her husband and two young children.
Dustin Leitzel, PharmD, BCCCP
Dustin Leitzel, Pharm.D., BCCCP is a Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist at Swedish Medical Center. Swedish has been his clinical practice site since 2007, where he works closely with the Medical and Neurosurgical Critical Care teams. Dustin serves as the Residency Coordinator and primary preceptor for the Critical Care core rotation within the Swedish Medical Center PGY1 pharmacy training program. He graduated with a PharmD from the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy in 2006 and completed his PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, Washington in 2007. Dustin has lived many places but has called Denver home for over 20 years. In his free-time, he enjoys photography, travel, and attending pop-culture conventions.
Jackie McClintic, PharmD, BCPS
Jackie is the Clinical Coordinator at Swedish Medical Center. Jackie has been at Swedish since 2008, where she oversees a growing clinical program and leads Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Jackie also coordinates Swedish’s investigational study program, helps precept students, and participates in multidisciplinary rounds. Jackie is the primary preceptor for the administration core rotation within the Swedish Medical Center PGY1 pharmacy training program. She graduated with a PharmD. from The University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2007 and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Denver, CO. Primary academic and clinical interests include: acute care, emergency medicine, anticoagulation and pain management. Jackie is from South Dakota and enjoys running, skiing, going to Washington Park, and spending time with her daughter.
Jeffrey Lalama, PharmD, BCPS
Jeffrey Lalama, PharmD, BCPS is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Regis University School of Pharmacy. He is also the Director of Residency Programs for Regis University School of Pharmacy. His specialty is in cardiology and works on the Surgical and Medical Cardiology Units at Swedish Medical Center. For his service, Jeff rounds with the cardiothoracic surgery team helping to manage patient's medication therapy once they are post-op and he rounds with the internal medicine team on the Medical Cardiology Unit. Additionally, Jeff also works with the cardiology teams to counsel patients who will be discharged on their medications. Jeff earned his PharmD degree from the University of Connecticut in 2009. Upon graduation, Jeff completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Valley Health Systems in Winchester, VA and a PGY-2 Cardiology residency at University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Jeff is originally from New Jersey and enjoys going to the beach and skiing.
Leah Walter, PharmD BCPS
Leah Walter, PharmD BCPS is the Clinical Coordinator at Swedish Medical Center. Leah graduated from the University of Toledo with her PharmD and minor in Chemistry. Leah has worked at Swedish Medical Center for the last ten years in various roles and is very proud to be one of pharmacists who established pharmacy's presence in the Emergency department. She recently attained her SIDP antimicrobial stewardship and ASHP teaching certifications. Her professional interests include critical care and infectious diseases. Leah is also a preceptor for the Pharmacy residency program and enjoys precepting Pharmacy students from Regis University and The University of Colorado. Leah spends her free time exploring and photographing the beautiful state of Colorado!
Sarah Simpson, PharmD
Sarah is one of the Advanced Clinical Pharmacists at Swedish Medical Center. Swedish has been her clinical practice site since 2011, where she works closely with internal medicine physicians, nurses, and trauma surgeons caring for patients in the Orthopedic and Multi-trauma units. Additionally, Sarah is involved with a variety of committees at Swedish dedicated to improving patient care and safety: Core Measures Committee, Falls Prevention Committee, and HCAHPS (patient satisfaction) committees. Sarah serves as one of the primary preceptors for the Internal Medicine 2 (IM2) core rotation. She graduated with a PharmD. from the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy in 2011. Sarah is a true Colorado native, born and raised in the Denver area. In her free-time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, attending concerts, playing guitar, yoga, traveling, and, of course, skiing.
Ali Seek, PharmD, BCPS
Ali is the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at Swedish Medical Center and serves as one of the preceptors for the Administration/Medication Safety core rotation. Ali has been at Swedish since 2014. She worked with medication safety and compliance until 2016 and has been in her current role since then. Ali earned her PharmD degree at the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy in 2010 and went on to complete a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Denver VA Medical Center in 2011. Ali is a Colorado native and happy to be living and practicing in her home state. She spends her free time enjoying the outdoors with her husband, daughters and springer spaniel.
Rachel Beham, PharmD
Rachel Beham, Pharm.D. is the PGY1 Residency Director at Swedish Medical Center. Her primary area of practice is in Emergency Medicine. She graduated from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy in 2014. Her PGY1 was completed at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital in Memphis, TN. She then went on to complete her PGY2 in Emergency Medicine at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in 2016. She serves as one of the primary preceptors for the ED rotation. Her professional interests include toxicology, resident development, acute stroke management, trauma, and burn. Rachel moved to Colorado in 2016 after the completion of her residency. She spends her free time hiking, camping, traveling, watching Michigan football (Go Blue!), spending time with friends, and exploring all that Colorado has to offer.
Chelsea Aidala, PharmD, BCPS
Chelsea has been an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist at Swedish Medical Center since 2013. She represents the pharmacy department in the women's and children's service lines and is also the facility's Medication Safety Officer (MSO). She precepts the resident in her MSO role during the Administration Rotation. Chelsea graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 2007, completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at the University of Colorado Hospital and PGY2 residency in neonatal pharmacotherapy at Cone Health in Greensboro, NC. Outside of work, Chelsea enjoys spending time with her family.
Charleen Melton, PharmD, BCCCP
Charleen Melton, PharmD, BCCCP is an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist in Emergency Medicine at Swedish Medical Center. Charleen is originally from the east coast where she graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelors in Biological Sciences and then went on to complete pharmacy school at Wingate University School of Pharmacy in 2015. She completed her PGY1 pharmacy residency at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia and her PGY2 pharmacy residency in Emergency Medicine at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina. Charleen moved to Colorado in 2017 and serves as a preceptor for the Emergency Medicine rotation. Her professional interests include toxicology, trauma, resuscitation and infectious disease. In her free time, Charleen enjoys spending time with family and friends, snowboarding, live music, exploring new restaurants and breweries, and traveling.
Jason Detry, PharmD, BCCCP
Jason Detry, PharmD, BCCCP is a critical care pharmacy specialist in the ICU at Swedish Medical Center. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015. He completed his PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency and PGY-2 critical care residency at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO. His professional interests include teaching, anticoagulation reversal, and mechanical circulatory support devices. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, rec sports, and all things Wisconsin Badgers.
Nichole Neville, PharmD, BCIDP
Nichole Neville, PharmD, BCIDP is an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist in Infectious Diseases at Swedish Medical Center. She graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 2016. Her PGY1 was completed at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO. She then completed her PGY2 in Infectious Diseases at University of Colorado Hospital/Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences. She serves at the primary preceptor for the ID rotation. Her professional interests include antimicrobial stewardship, drug resistance, and invasive fungal infections. She enjoys spending time in the great outdoors of Colorado, traveling, and antique shopping.
Scott is an advanced clinical pharmacist specializing in hematology and oncology. He serves as the preceptor for oncology elective rotation. Scott attended Purdue University in West Lafayette Indiana and graduated in 2011. He completed his PGY1 residency at the Louisville Kentucky Veterans Hospital in 2012. After residency he worked at the Portland Oregon Veteran Hospital specializing in oncology, solid organ transplants and infectious disease. Scott has worked at Swedish since 2016. In addition to performing oncology services for the outpatient infusion center and the oncology unit he also manages the investigational drug service. Scott is an adjunct professor at Regis University where he teaches cancer treatment and supportive care. Outside of work, Scott enjoys skiing, hiking, biking and kayaking.
Sonny Kupniewski, PharmD, BCPS
Sonny Kupniewski, PharmD, BCPS is an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist overseeing the care of neurology and acute rehabilitation patients at Swedish Medical Center (Englewood, CO). He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh College of Pharmacy in 2010. After completing his degree, he began immediately working as a staff pharmacist for UPMC Shadyside Hospital (Pittsburgh, PA) after working as a pharmacy intern for 3.5 years. He currently serves as a primary preceptor for the University of Colorado aIPPE and Swedish Medical Center's PGY1 Pharmacy Resident Neurology rotation. His professional interests include acute stroke care, secondary stroke prevention management, and anticoagulation. Outside of work, he spends his time hiking, traveling, skiing, following NHL Hockey (Go Oilers!), and as a new father to a baby girl (Siena)!
Zach Alexandres, PharmD, BCPS
Zach Alexandres, PharmD, BCPS is an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist at Swedish Medical Center, currently practicing as a clinical pharmacist covering the medical telemetry and general surgery floors. He also serves as preceptor for the Decentralized Clinical Rotation. Originally hailing from Iowa, he graduated from the LECOM School of Pharmacy in Bradenton, FL in 2014, then completed his PGY1 residency at Stormont Vail Health in Topeka, Kansas. After his PGY1, he worked as a clinical pharmacist at Stormont Vail prior to moving to Colorado and joining the team at Swedish Medical Center, where he has been working for three years. Zach spends his free time with family and friends, playing hockey and golf, and watching Hawkeye football.

Sean McCullough, PharmD, BCIDP is a Clinical Pharmacist at Swedish Medical Center. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy in 2016. He completed ASHP-accredited PGY1-Pharmacy and PGY2-Infectious Diseases residencies at the University of Virginia Health System. Sean currently serves as the preceptor for the longitudinal staffing learning experience. His professional interests include infectious diseases, antimicrobial stewardship, and critical care.
