About Primary Care Providers

Be sure that you are completely comfortable with your selected primary care physician evaluating your health and giving you medical advice. In many cases, you will see your primary care provider most often and he or she will refer you to specialists, as needed. The more time you spend with a primary care doctor over the years, a rapport develops. This close relationship allows your physician to make better evaluations on your well-being during any given office visit since they have assessed your health over the course of an extended period of time, years, possibly even decades.

Depending on the type of health insurance you have, you may need a referral from your primary care doctor before you can see a specialty doctor. At Swedish, our specialty service lines include bariatrics, dermatology and neurology.
