At Swedish Medical Center, we’re committed to the belief that “survivorship begins at diagnosis.” We provide advanced medical care and support you through every step of your cancer journey, from diagnosis through recovery. In addition to world-class facilities, we’re the proud home of some of the most advanced cancer support services  in the Rocky Mountain region.

Swedish’s Cancer Resource Center is a key part of our cancer survivorship. Any patient can call the Cancer Resource Center at 303-788-2627 to speak with our nurses, dieticians and volunteers about resources and support services for cancer patients. We also offer support groups and peer resources for current patients and cancer survivors.

If you’re seeking information on side effects and residual effects of cancer or treatment, referrals to resources for pain management or mobility or help with the emotional healing process of survivorship, we can help.

Care Navigation Services

Our patients can work with specially-trained oncology nurse navigators to access services during treatment and recovery. We offer integrative health services, like acupuncture and massage, and palliative care focused on relieving symptoms, pain, stress and suffering. Patients can also work one-on-one with a registered dietician to establish an individualized diet plan that works best for them.

Our oncology nurse navigators also craft medical survivorship plans for each patient. The survivorship plan includes the resources, remission instructions, warning symptoms, follow-up appointments, screening schedules and treatment dates for each patient’s journey through survivorship.

The Emotional Journey of Survivorship

We recognize that cancer diagnosis, treatment, recovery and survivorship are difficult and emotional processes. We offer several resources for emotional support in survivorship, including:

  • American Cancer Society’s Look Good Feel Better program
  • Access to free wigs, scarves, knit caps and other accessory items to help patients with their outward appearance
  • Comprehensive chaplaincy services our patients' spiritual needs
  • Free support groups and educational classes
  • Opportunities to connect with fellow cancer survivors and hear their stores
  • Project Angel Heart to deliver nutritious meals to cancer survivors
